Title: The role of mutual aid in the treatment and recovery journey.
From completing a Ph.D in Human Toxicology I gained knowledge of addiction and the pathological effects of addictive substances. I then worked in the NHS across health, education and social care I led a portfolio of research developing health innovations for vulnerable and isolated people living in the community with complex needs. I am able to lead an organisation on a journey of transformation, improvement and growth which is what I am doing as CEO of UK SMART Recovery. The UKSR strategy aims to unlock the full potential of SMART Recovery as we continue to tailor our 4-point programme so that it resonates with a diverse range of people across all cultures. Offered in over 30 countries working for SMART Recovery provides me with opportunities to work globally. I believe in the philosophy that everyone should be able to Love the Life they Live and Live the Life they Love.
