Title: Scaling Virtual Methadone: Lessons from Canada and Pathways for Global Adoption
Dr. Ovie Martin Albert is a Canadian-based Addiction Medicine specialist and Family Physician with over two decades of clinical experience spanning hospital, emergency, correctional, and community settings. He holds a Master’s degree in Occupational Medicine from the University of Manchester, is board-certified in Addiction Medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM) and is ISAM-certified. Dr. Albert currently serves as an Addiction Medicine Physician at the Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury (CCMHBI) and is an Assistant Professor at the University of Calgary’s Department of Family Medicine. He provides leadership in low-barrier opioid agonist therapy (OAT) delivery via Alberta’s VODP, including care for underserved, rural, and justice-involved populations. A CFPC FMF Committee Member and Chair of the Hospital-Based MIG Section, Dr. Albert is actively engaged in medical education, rural advocacy, and addiction medicine scholarship across Canada.?
